  • Brown Belt

Alex McInroy's introduction to the martial arts began in 1999, studying Shotokan Karate after being inspired by an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger (no joke, it started with Chuck Norris). In 2016, he began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and currently holds the rank of Brown belt.

Alex's teaching style is heavily influenced by his academic background in mathematics, utilizing a concept-based approach to technique which allows for easier modifications between body types.  He holds a 2nd degree black belt from the International Shotokan Karate Federation and a masters degree in Applied Statistics from Binghamton University.
Outside of jiu-jitsu, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and rock climbing.
